Brookfield Drinks Acquires Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer

Brookfield Drinks is delighted to announce the acquisition of Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer from Halewood Artisanal Spirits, marking a significant addition to our growing portfolio of drinks brands.

Founded in Edinburgh in 1801, Crabbie’s has more than two centuries of heritage and has become one of the most recognisable alcoholic ginger beer brands in the UK and internationally.

At the heart of Crabbie’s is its distinctive six-week ginger-steeping process, which has helped create the flavour and character for which the brand has become known.

The acquisition includes Crabbie’s Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer, Raspberry and Blood Orange variants, as well as Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Wine.

Nigel McNally, Founder of Brookfield Drinks, said:

“Crabbie’s is a must-stock product within the fast-growing fruit and flavoured beer market. The brand has outstanding heritage and awareness, not only within the UK but internationally as well.

“With consumers increasingly looking for more flavour-led and refreshing drinking experiences, we see an exciting opportunity to continue developing Crabbie’s and building on the strength of this iconic brand.”

The addition of Crabbie’s complements Brookfield Drinks’ growing Rubis fruit beer range and further strengthens our position within the fruit and flavoured beer category.

Stewart Hainsworth, CEO of Halewood Artisanal Spirits, commented:

“The sale of Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer is another exciting step forward for the Halewood company as part of its spirits-focused artisanal brand strategy. Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer will be a core brand for Brookfield Drinks and they have some exciting plans to continue to support and grow Crabbie’s in the UK and beyond.”

Crabbie’s is a truly crafted drink, made using a unique six-week ginger-steeping process that is distinctive to the brand. This time-honoured process has remained central to the character and flavour of Crabbie’s and continues to set the brand apart within the alcoholic ginger beer category.

Brookfield Drinks will be investing significantly behind Crabbie’s across marketing, sales and new product development, with a long-term focus on continuing to grow the brand across the UK and international markets.

Further details on the future direction of Crabbie’s, including new marketing activity and brand developments, will be announced over the coming months.
